Maggie Walker
Community Land Trust
The Maggie Walker Community Land Trust (MWCLT) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that develops and stewards permanently affordable homeownership opportunities to foster racially equitable communities. Our Community Land Trust model helps people attain homeownership goals while keeping their homes affordable for other families in the future.
Founded in 2016 by a coalition of affordable housing professionals and concerned citizens, our vision is that the communities of metropolitan Richmond will be inclusive, affordable, and healthy places to live. We are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, made up of partners, community members, and our very own homeowners. MWCLT serves in the City of Richmond and the Counties of Chesterfield and Henrico.

“Being a part of the MWCLT community means being connected to a movement that puts people before profit and invests in generational stability.“
As a homeowner, I’m grateful for the Maggie Walker Community Land Trust and the role it plays in making homeownership more accessible. This organization isn’t just about housing, but t’s about creating long-term, community-centered solutions to affordability.
Being a part of the MWCLT community means being connected to a movement that puts people before profit and invests in generational stability. I’m proud to support an organization that’s actively working to close the housing gap and create lasting change in Richmond.
With the current complex nature of housing and housing affordability, I look forward to seeing how MWCLT continues to be creative and innovative in fulfilling its mission.
