Building Bridges
September 2024
Do you remember?
This September, we’re dancing because the first four homes in Ettrick Landing are under contract and scheduled to close! We’re making progress on several other construction projects, including one in the city’s Northside.
Don’t forget, MWCLT is once again participating in Birdies for Charity presented by TowneBank, part of the Dominion Energy Charity Classic! Donate through their online platform by October 20th and Birdies for Charity will provide a 10% bonus.
Our next online information session is next Tuesday, September 10th at 6pm via Zoom. If you’re interested in the program, we hope to see you there.
This home in Church Hill is currently under contract. What a generous front stoop!

Development Updates
Infrastructure work at subdivision on New Market Road continues
We’re making good progress on our new 21-unit mixed-income subdivision on New Market Road, which we’re officially calling River East! This development will contain 14 CLT homes for qualified buyers in our program, as well as 7 market-rate homes for sale.
Four homes on East Ladies Mile Road break ground
We recently started construction on two pairs of attached homes on East Ladies Mile Road near Northside’s Brookland Park neighborhood. The land for this project came to us from the City of Richmond, who had designated it as surplus and transferred it to the land bank program. The plans came from a private contractor, Belle4316 LLC, who was awarded the property through the land bank. The foundation for the first pair of homes has been poured, and framing is underway.
First four Ettrick Landing homes under contract
After breaking ground all the way back in 2021, the first four homes in Ettrick Landing are under contract with qualified buyers through MWCLT. The transactions are scheduled to close this month. The fifth and sixth homes are preparing for final inspections. The seventh and eighth have been framed and now have roofs. The ninth has a foundation, and the tenth and final home is awaiting permits.

Staff members engage East End community at Armstrong Renaissance
Some of our staff members recently tabled at a health and homeownership resource fair in Armstrong Renaissance. The Armstrong Renaissance neighborhood is on the site of the old Armstrong High School, across Nine Mile Road from the old Creighton Court. This was an opportunity for residents of Armstrong Renaissance and community members to find out more about financial education and homeownership opportunities. Members of the homeownership team provided information about homeownership and also discussed the importance of housing as one of the social determinants of health.
