John S. Finn, Jr.
John is a renowned Realtor in Virginia, having established a successful career in the real estate industry for over 48 years. He is recognized for his outstanding reputation, having received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to the real estate community. The Finn family boasts a proud and storied tradition in real estate spanning five generations. John's journey into the industry began early in life as he worked on various construction sites with his father, a successful home builder. These formative experiences equipped him with invaluable skills and a deep understanding of the field, which would later shape his career.
John pursued his education at Virginia Commonwealth University, studying Business Marketing, but soon discovered his true calling and in 1976, he earned his real estate license. Throughout his career, John has held various positions in the real estate industry, including serving as a Broker responsible for managing and divesting all residential and commercial properties seized by the US Marshals Service in Virginia. He has completed over 2500 sales transactions and once sold 27 properties in just 45 days. Currently, he is the Senior Managing Broker of United Real Estate Richmond, the largest blackowned real estate firm in Virginia. He is a highly sought after consultant in real estate investing and development. John’s insights have been featured in prominent publications including Forbes, Real Estate News, REO Insider, RisMedia Real Estate, Real Estate Trends, Metro Real Estate, and Richmond magazines. In 2017, he was named "Realtor of the Year," and in 2024, “Civic Leader of the Year”. He served as the President of the State Chapter of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB), Richmond Association of Realtors and the Central Virginia Regional Multiple Listing Service. He is a recipient of the Realtors Omega Tau Rho Medal of Service and has been inducted into the VCU Real Estate School Circle of Excellence as well as the Virginia Realtors Hall of Fame.
Beyond his professional achievements, John is deeply committed to community service. He served on the Property Advisory Committee of the Commonwealth Girl Scouts Council, the Virginia Committee for National Homeownership Strategies, the Minority Business Affairs Committee of Virginia Housing, the Board of Trustees for the VCU Foundation, the Beta Gamma Lambda Education Foundation, ACTS (Area Congregations Together in Service), and CARITAS. He has held leadership roles as Chairman of the Board for the Metropolitan Business League and the McShin Foundation, and Secretary of the board for Virginia Supportive Housing.
John is a proud father of two sons, Antonio who resides in Washington D.C., and John III who serves in the US Army. John lives in Bon Air, Virginia, with his wife Lorri.
