Carolyn Champion
Chair
Carolyn Champion is a Philanthropy Consultant for Dominion Energy. Prior to this role, she served as the Director of Finance and Human Resources at Peter Paul RVA, and before that the Corporate Social Responsibility Director at Genworth, managing the company’s philanthropic Foundation and sustainability reporting. On the weekends, she can be found spending time with her husband and two sons.
Jeisson Apolo Armas
Vice Chair, Homeowner
Jeisson Apolo graduated from Cornell University where he received two bachelors degrees in architecture and urban planning. Jeisson joined Baskervill in 2023 and has worked on connecting the practice of architecture with the community and the user. He became a MWCLT homeowner in October of 2018.
Laura Lafayette
Immediate Past Chair
Laura Lafayette is the Chief Executive Officer of the Richmond Association of REALTORS® and the Central Virginia Regional Multiple Listing Service—two organizations that serve the over 4,700 REALTORS® in the Central Virginia area. In addition, she serves as the Executive Director of the Partnership for Housing Affordability, a non-profit dedicated to ensuring that an adequate and diverse supply of affordable housing is a public policy priority in central Virginia.
Whitney Brown
Secretary, Homeowner
Whitney Brown, M.P.A. is a public service and government relations professional born and raised in Richmond, VA. She has a heart for public service and transforms her passion for social and racial equity into action. Whitney holds a Bachelor of Science in Science (Legal Studies, Government Services, and Public Policy option) from The Pennsylvania State University (University Park) and a certificate in African-American Studies and a Master of Public Administration from the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Nelson Reveley
Treasurer
Nelson Reveley is an Impact Analyst and Investor at Alpha Omega Wealth Management. Nelson is also the board president of RVA Rapid Transit, a grassroots nonprofit that educates, organizes, and advocates for regional public transportation in metro Richmond. He previously served as the Collaboration Coordinator for RVA Thrives, an initiative along the Jefferson Davis corridor in Richmond city focused on cultivating equitable thriving in areas of job access, neighborhood beautification, and neighborhood safety.
Gabriel Boudali
Board Member, Homeowner
Gabe Boudali is a MWCLT homeowner who grew up in Petersburg and Richmond. He shares his home with his partner Hannah and their two boys, Zev and Milo. Gabe works in Collections Management at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
Duron Chavis
Board Member
Chavis started his career in community advocacy as first a volunteer then an employee of the Black History Museum and Cultural Center of VA. He worked as a museum coordinator developing programs and conducting guided tours for groups of all ages and backgrounds. In 2003 he founded the highly acclaimed Happily Natural Day festival as a grassroots effort to supplement the summer jazz concert that was held annually at the institution.
Chanel Dixon
Board Member
Chanel Dixon works as a customer credit representative at Dominion Energy. She works with the Virginia Department of Social Service and other non-profits across Dominion’s service territory. She consults these agencies on how to utilize federal, state, and Dominion sponsored funding to best serve their customers.
Allison Domson
Board Member
Allison Domson is an attorney with the law firm of Williams Mullen. Allison focuses almost exclusively on representing real estate developers, commercial lending institutions and syndicators in connection with tax credit financing transactions involving low-income housing tax credits, historic rehabilitation tax credits and New Markets Tax Credits.
Tiffany Goodman
Board Member
Tiffany Goodman is the Director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Steward School.
Mike Mulvihill, APR
Board Member
Mike Mulvihill is principal of Richmond-based Carter Ryley Thomas Marketing & Communications Counsel. He has been involved in the affordable housing sector for nearly two decades as a member of the Virginia Local Initiatives Support Corporation (Virginia LISC) Leadership Advisory Committee (LAC) including three terms as LAC chairman.
Jamie Seagraves
Board Member
Jamie Seagraves, Community Impact and Investment Grants Manager at Capital One, has over 15 years of experience in the nonprofit, civic engagement, and philanthropy sector in Richmond. Following his graduation from Christopher Newport University, Jamie committed a year of volunteer services to the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corp program, based in Vinton, Iowa.
Ashleigh Shannon
Board Member
Ashleigh Shannon is a Mortgage Loan Officer at Navy Federal and a Maggie Walker CLT homeowner. She received her education from Virginia Commonwealth University in Sociology.
Adrienne Snead
Board Member
Adrienne Snead works in the mental health field, assisting individuals with intellectual disabilities as a Supported Employment Specialist at SOAR365. In this role, she helps prepare individuals with disabilities for the workforce by conducting assessments, job training, and job search activities that are consistent with her clients’ interests, desires, and needs. She became a Maggie Walker CLT homeowner in 2019.
Mich Taylor
Board Member, Homeowner
Michelle Taylor is a proud homeowner in the south Randolph area thanks to the support of the Maggie Walker Community Land Trust. Michelle is a Licensed Social Worker and Returned Peace Corps Volunteer where they worked and lived in the Philippines as a Youth and Family Development Volunteer.
Our Staff
Erica Sims
Chief Executive Officer
Erica Sims has worked in the non-profit management, affordable housing development and community organizing fields for over 17 years. Her focus has been on social and economic justice through housing and economic development. Ms. Sims has held private sector, nonprofit and government roles and has overseen the development of over 2,500 units of affordable housing and 50,000 square feet of commercial development space in new construction and renovation projects.
Lark Washington
Chief Operating Officer
Lark Washington is the Chief Operating Officer at Maggie Walker Community Land Trust and a Senior Associate for HDAdvisors. In her Maggie Walker CLT role, she leads the implementation of the strategic plan and fund development. In her role with HDAdvisors, she works as a consultant that specializes in housing and community development studies and implementation plans for nonprofits as well as local and state governments.
Eric Mai
Director of Acquisition
Eric Mai is the Director of Acquisition for MWCLT, guiding the CLT’s property strategy, and a partner and Vice President at HDAdvisors. He received his Masters of Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Commonwealth University, where he focused his research on affordable housing development in diverse, inner-ring suburban communities.
Candice Turner, MSW
Director of Homeownership
Candice is the Homeownership Director for Maggie Walker Community Land Trust.She is also a psychotherapist and social worker with extensive knowledge with families experiencing low income and housing instability. Her work has focused on the trauma, mental, and physical health barriers that often serve as roadblocks in persons meeting their personal goals surrounding wellness and housing security.
Elizabeth Munyan
Home Purchasding Coordinator
Elizabeth is the Home Purchasing Coordinator at the Maggie Walker Community Land Trust. Her main role with MWCLT is assisting prospective homeowners throughout the homebuying process. Elizabeth started at MWCLT in 2021 as the AmeriCorps VISTA to follow her passion for community land trusts, land banks and equity work.
Shabana Shaheen
Stewardship & Engagement Coordinator
Shabana is the Stewardship and Engagement Coordinator with The Maggie Walker Community Land Trust. Shabana comes to the MWCLT with a wide range of experience in academic research, reproductive justice, leadership development, capacity building and community organizing. She earned a Master of Science in sociology from Virginia Commonwealth University, with a focus on racial equity and systems analysis. Shabana is passionate about mutual aid and community centered capacity building. The framework of intersectionality and the values articulated in The Combahee River Collective (1977) guide how she approaches her work.
Daronte Rollins, MSW
Construction Project Manager
Daronte Rollins, MSW is the Construction Project Manager with Maggie Walker Community Land Trust. As a career social worker, he sees his role as critical in creating homeownership opportunities in underinvested communities. He is most passionate when it comes to Clean, Affordable, and Accessible Housing for all communities which he serves.
Flora Valdes-Dapena
Communications Coordinator, Richmond Land Bank Coordinator
Flora is the Communications Coordinator MWCLT. In this role, she oversees the CLT’s websites, social media presence, email communications, online information sessions, and more. She also works as the Richmond Land Bank Coordinator alongside Director of Acquisitions, Eric Mai to oversee public engagement with the land bank, review applications, and manage the Citizens Advisory Panel.
Leah Coltrane
AmeriCoprs VISTA Member
Leah is an AmeriCorps member in the VISTA program serving with Maggie Walker Community Land Trust. Their role is to increase data collected by the organization to expand community outreach. Maggie Walker Community Land Trust attracted Leah’s enthusiasm due to the organization’s efforts to increase wealth opportunities and access to homeownership for families in Virginia.
