Revving Up the Rhythm: Our Inaugural Jazz Brunch Raises Over $75,000!
Over 200 supporters filled the Bob and Salley Mooney Hall at Dominion Energy Center to celebrate ten years of MWCLT — and the room delivered, raising more than $75,000 to advance permanently affordable homeownership across the Richmond region.
Lieutenant Governor Ghazala Hashmi brought the energy with a keynote on housing affordability, homeownership access, and generational wealth-building for Richmond families. We also introduced two new annual honors: the Laura Lafayette Luminary Award for visionary leadership and the Bob Adams Economic Impact Award for transformational community impact — plus a special tribute to Chesterfield County Administrator Joe Casey for decades of service to our region.
The Maggie Walker Community Land Trust extends its sincere gratitude to Richmond Mayor Danny Avula for his message of support for our mission. His continued partnership and advocacy for permanently affordable homeownership reflect a shared commitment to building a more equitable Richmond region.
What inspires me most about the Maggie Walker Community Land Trust is that you are creating permanent affordability while you’re also creating opportunity. You’re opening doors that for too long felt closed to too many families. And every time someone turns the key to their first home, they aren’t just gaining a place to live, they’re gaining security, pride, and the chance to build something lasting for the next generation.
